True happenings, stranger by far than fiction, demonstrate that if Allah says “Be!” it is, it surely is.

The text was the 2005 Second Prize winner in the Islamic Foundation’s Writing for Children Contest, and is now in publication as an illustrated book, soon to be released.

The Lucida Project wants YOU!!!

  1. Buy this CD!
  2. Listen to it with your kids!
  3. Encourage them to listen again and again!
  4. Tell them this story in your own words, not to inform them of it, but to allow it to form inside their hearts.
  5. Encourage them to tell it to you, not to inform you of it but to pass moments of pleasure between you and Allah.

Listen together!
Shared Listening is medicine.

  1. It relaxes and brings feelings of well-being.
  2. It encourages cooperation.
  3. It heightens sensory perception.
  4. It develops inner vision and creativity.
  5. It increases verbal proficiency.
  6. It calls forth active participation and sharing, enhancing family relationships.

Islam is a deen of listening. The Revelation started with listening.

We need developed inner vision. We need to imagine our places in the universe. How can there be a khalifa with no grasp of the unseen?

Can our five senses allow us to grasp:

  1. the vastness of creation?
  2. the sweep of stars across the universe?
  3. the reality of Adam?
  4. the presence of Jibreel in the Cave Hira?
  5. the presence of Muhammad leading all the other prophets in salat at the Dome of the Rock?
  6. the fluorescent fish at the bottom of the dark dark sea?

No!  But Allah has given us the faculty of inner vision, to use with knowledge to expand our awareness. It is ingratitude not to accept and develop a divinely-given gift. The human being is the only being in creation who has been given the capacity to “see” with the eyes of the dolphin or the eagle…
